Clinical Efficacy of Self-made Jianpi Chuji Recipe Combined with Immune Check-point Inhibitor in Treating Patients with Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer and Its Impact on Peripheral Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of self-made Jianpi Chuji Recipe in conjunction with immune checkpoint inhibitor in treating advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and its impact on peripheral vas-cular endothelial growth factor(VEGF).Methods A total of 70 patients with advanced NSCLC treated at the Cangzhou Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from June 2021 to December 2022 were selected and di-vided into a control group and a treatment group by random number table,with 35 in each group.The control group received standard chemotherapy,consisting of sintilimab and platinum-based doublet chemotherapy.The treatment group was given self-made Jianpi Chuji Recipe on the basis of the control group.Each treatment cycle was 21 days(3 weeks),and patients in both groups underwent two consecutive cycles.The clinical efficacy,adverse reactions,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS)scores,and VEGF were detected and compared between groups before and after treatment.Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was 88.57％(31/35),higher than the 65.71％(23/35)of the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,TCM syndrome scores were decreased and KPS scores were increased in both groups(P＜0.05),with significant improvements in the treatment group when compared with the control group(P＜0.01).Serum VEGF was down-regulated in both groups after treatment(P＜0.05)and it was lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P＜0.05).There was no difference in the grades of adverse reactions be-tween the two groups(P＞0.05);however,rates of white blood cell count decrease and nausea/vomiting were lower in the treatment group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Self-made Jianpi Chuji Recipe combined with immune checkpoint inhibitor can enhance the clinical treatment effects of advanced NSCLC,improve TCM syndrome scores,raise the quality of life,and reduce peripheral VEGF,with high safe,which is worthy of recommendation for use.
