The Short-term Efficacy and Impact on Survival of Self-developed Chinese Medi-cine Prescription Combined with Synchronous Chemotherapy in Patients with Ad-vanced Esophageal Cancer
Objective To explore the short-term efficacy and impact on survival prognosis of self-developed Chinese medicine prescription combined with synchronous radiochemotherapy in patients with advanced esophageal cancer. Methods A total of 80 patients with advanced esophageal cancer who were treated in Hebei General Hospital for Veterans from February 2018 to March 2019 were selected as research subjects. The patients were divided into 2 groups by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. Both groups of patients were treated with concurrent radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and patients in the observation group were treated with self-developed Chinese medicine prescription on this basis. After 8 weeks of treatment,short-term efficacy,TCM syndrome scores,1-year progression-free survival rate, blood indicators, and toxic and side effects were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the total ef-fective rate of the observation group was 77.50%(31/40),which was higher thanthat of the control group(55.00%,22/40)(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of the primary syndrome and the secondary syndromes of the two groups of pa-tients decreased significantly compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the CD44 and sialic acid levels of the two groups of patients decreased significantly compared with those before treatment(P<0.05),and the decrease was even greater in the observation group(P<0.05).During the treatment, the incidence of bone marrow suppression, liver damage, nausea and vomiting in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The 1-year progres-sion free survival rate in the control group was 50%(20/40),which was significantly lower than that in the observation group(72.50%,29/40)(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of self-prepared Chinese medicine prescription and synchronous radiochemotherapy can effectively improve the clinical efficacy of patients with advanced esophageal cancer, increase the 1-year progression free survival rate, and reduce the TCM syndrome score,CD44 and sialic acid levels, and the incidence of side effects compared with synchronous radiochemotherapy alone.
