The theory of turbid toxins is an important component of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Li Dian-gui closely integrates the theory of turbid toxins with clinical practice,proposing the pathogenesis and treatment principles based on turbid toxins.Based on the"theory of turbid toxins",he explores the pathogenesis and treatment principles of gall-stones,believing that spleen deficiency in ascending clear qi,stomach deficiency in descending turbidity,liver deficiency in control free flow of qi,and gallbladder deficiency in cleansing are the foundation of this disease.Turbid toxins are inherent,with the formation of stones in the bile ducts as the core pathology,primarily affecting the liver and gallbladder and closely related to the spleen and stomach.In the development process of gallstones,imbalances in the five Zang organs can lead to the internal accumulation of turbid toxins.Therefore,treatment should focus on resolving turbidity and removing toxins to promote bile clarity and purity.Li Diangui proposes general treatment principles for resolving turbidity and removing tox-ins:nourishing yin and soothing the liver for liver-related issues,clearing heat and eliminating dampness for gallbladder-related issues,invigorating the spleen and dispelling dampness for spleen and stomach-related issues,regulating the liver and promoting gallbladder function for qi-related issues,promoting blood circulation and resolving stasis for blood-relat-ed issues,and dispersing hardness and resolving stagnation for stubborn accumulations.
