Clinical Efficacy and Safety of Chaiyin Yajia Formula Combined with Conventional Western Medicine in the Treatment of Subacute Thyroiditis
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of Chaiyin Yajia Formula combined with conven-tional western medicine in the treatment of subacute thyroiditis. Methods Ninety patients with subacute thyroiditis treated at Tangshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between January 2021 and December 2021 were selected and ran-domly divided into a control group and a study group according to a simple random number table, with 45 patients in each group. The control group received conventional western medicine, while the study group received Chaiyin Yajia Formula in addition to the conventional treatment, both for a duration of three months. The clinical efficacy, adverse reactions, and dis-ease recurrence rates were observed and compared between the two groups.Additionally, the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom scores, erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),thyroid function indicators[thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH),free thyroxine(FT4),and free triiodothyronine(FT3)],and inflammatory factors[interferon-gamma(IFN-γ),tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),and interleukin-6(IL-6)]were evaluated before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the overall clinical efficacy in the study group was 93.33%(42/45),higher than 77.78%(35/45)in the con-trol group(P<0.05).The scores for symptoms such as fever, anterior neck pain, anterior neck swelling, fatigue, tremors, excessive sweating, irritability, and palpitations were significantly lower in both groups after treatment(P<0.05),and the study group showed significantly lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).Post-treatment,TSH levels increased, while FT4,FT3,and ESR levels decreased significantly in both groups(P<0.05);the study group showed significantly higher TSH levels and lower FT4,FT3,and ESR levels than the control group(P<0.05).Inflammatory factors IFN-γ,TNF-α,and IL-6 levels also decreased significantly in both groups after treatment(P<0.05),with the study group showing significantly lower levels than the control group(P<0.05).During the treatment period, the incidence of adverse reactions was 4.44%(2/45)in the study group, lower than 8.89%(4/45)in the control group, with no statistically signifi-cant difference(P>0.05).After a three-month follow-up,the disease recurrence rate was significantly lower in the study group(2.22%,1/45)than the control group(15.56%,7/45)(P<0.05).Conclusion Both conventional western medicine and its combination with Chaiyin Yajia Formula can alleviate clinical symptoms, improve thyroid function, reduce inflammation, enhance therapeutic efficacy, and decrease disease recurrence in patients with subacute thyroiditis. However, the combination treatment shows superior improvement in related indicators, benefiting prognosis.
