Application and Reflections of the "Preventive Treatment of Disease" Concept in Male Infertility
The concept of"preventive treatment of disease"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)embodies u-nique wisdom by focusing on preventing disease in three aspects:preventing disease before it occurs, preventing disease progression once it has occurred, and preventing relapse after recovery. This concept offers a new perspective on under-standing and preventing male infertility. However, applying this concept to male infertility presents challenges such as the lack of conspicuous subjective symptoms, delayed laboratory detection, complex pathogenesis, and difficulties in health edu-cation.Drawing wisdom from TCM classics and combining it with modern medical diagnostic methods to explore the"pre-morbid indicators"of male infertility is a key breakthrough in addressing these challenges. This article is the first to pro-pose using"age, semen routine, sex hormones, physical fitness, and common comorbidities"as clues to explore the premor-bid indicators of male infertility. It applies the"preventive treatment of disease"concept to male infertility prevention from three comprehensive aspects:understanding the principles of health education through the theory of"knowing the seven damages and eight benefits","employing methods of prevention by balancing Yin and Yang and emphasizing the impor-tance of preserving essence and vitality to prevent the decline in reproductive capability".By integrating the"preventive treatment of disease"concept into the prevention of male infertility, this approach aims to provide new insights for the com-prehensive management of male reproductive health.
