Effects of Shenling Weixiao Capsules on Tumor Marker Levels and Serum Th1/Th2 Balance in Postoperative Chemotherapy Patients with Colorectal Cancer
Objective To explore the effect of Shenling Weixiao capsules on tumor marker levels and serum Th1/Th2 balance in postoperative chemotherapy patients with colorectal cancer.Methods A total of 86 postoperative chemo-therapy patients with colorectal cancer,admitted to Cangzhou Hospital of Integrated TCM-WM·Hebei between January 2018 to October 2019,were selected as the study subjects.They were divided into a control and a study group according to the random number table method,with 43 patients in each group.The control group was treated with oxaliplatin combined with capecitabine,while the study group was treated with Shenling Weixiao capsule based on the control group.After 4 treatment courses,the clinical efficacy,adverse reactions,progression-free survival time,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)symptom scores,KPS scores,blood markers[carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199),Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),Interleukin-4(IL-4),Interferon-γ(IFN-γ),Interleukin-2(IL-2)],were observed and compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the overall effective rate in the study group(76.74％,33/43)was significantly higher than in the control group(55.81％,24/43),with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).Symptom scores for anorexia,fatigue,abdominal distension,loose stools,tasteless mouth,abdominal pain,epigastric oppression,bowel sounds,sallow complexion,edema,and total score significantly decreased in both groups compared to before treatment.Moreover,anorexia,fatigue,abdominal distension,loose stools,tasteless mouth,abdominal pain,epigastric oppression,bowel sounds,sallow complexion,edema,and total score in the study group were significantly lower than those of the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).KPS scores significantly in-creased in both groups compared to before treatment,and the KPS score of the study group was significantly higher than that of the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).Serum levels of CEA,CA199,TNF-α,and IL-4 decreased,while IFN-γ and IL-2 levels increased significantly in both groups compared to before treatment.Mo-reover,the levels of TNF-α and IL-4 in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group,and the levels of IFN-γ and IL-2 were significantly higher than those in the control group,with a statistically significant differ-ence(P＜0.05).During treatment,there were no statistically significant differences in the incidence of gastrointestinal re-actions,bone marrow suppression,neurological damage,or hematological toxicity between the two groups(P＞0.05).Fol-low-up until February 28,2022,ranging from 4 to 36 months,showed a statistically significant difference in the median progression-free survival curve between the two groups(x2=6.235,P=0.004).Conclusion Shenling Weixiao cap-sules can alleviate clinical symptoms and improve the therapeutic effect in postoperative chemotherapy patients with color-ectal cancer.It also regulates tumor marker levels and prolongs survival time,is safe and reliable.
