Observation of the Efficacy of Self-Made Shenqi Xiaoai Formula Combined with Tegio for Maintenance Therapy in Elderly Patients with Advanced Gastric Cancer
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of self-made Shenqi Xiaoai formula combined with Tegio for maintenance therapy in elderly patients with advanced gastric cancer.Methods From June 2021 to June 2022,90 pa-tients with advanced gastric cancer admitted to Nanyang Second General Hospital,were selected as the study subjects.They were divided into a control group and an observation group according to the random number table method,with 45 patients in each group.Both groups underwent chemotherapy using the SOX regimen.Four weeks after the end of chemotherapy,the control group received oral Tegio capsules,while the observation group received oral Shenqi Xiaoai formula in addition to the Tegio capsules.Clinical efficacy,side effects,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,Karnofsky Perform-ance Status(KPS)scores,and tumor markers[carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),glycoantigen 199(CA1 99),glycoantigen 724(CA72-4)]levels were observed and compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results After treatment,TCM syndrome scores significantly decreased,and KPS scores significantly increased in both groups compared to before treatment,with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).The observation group had significantly lower TCM syndrome scores and higher KPS scores than the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).CEA,CA199,and CA724 levels significantly decreased in both groups compared to before treatment,with a statistically signifi-cant difference(P＜0.05);the observation group showed significantly lower levels of these tumor markers than the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).The clinical control rate in the observation group was 75.56％(34/45),significantly higher than the control group's 48.89％(22/45),with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).During the treatment,the severity of side effects such as nausea,vomiting,diarrhea,and thrombocytopenia was sig-nificantly lower in the observation group compared to the control group,with a statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).Conclusion The combination of self-made Shenqi Xiaoai formula and Tegio for maintenance therapy can effec-tively improve the clinical symptoms and quality of life in elderly patients with advanced gastric cancer,slow tumor progres-sion,reduce tumor markers levels,enhance anti-tumor efficacy,and alleviate chemotherapy-induced side effects,demon-strating high safety and good tolerance.
