Zhang Xichun regarded Bupleuri Radix as the primary medicinal herb for the foot Shaoyang meridian and also effective in treating the foot Jueyin meridian.Though not originally intended to induce sweating,when used in lar-ger doses,it can promote sweating,facilitate bowel movements,and increase urination.Zhang Xichun extensively applied Bupleuri Radix in treating various diseases,with a particular focus on its lifting effects in clinical practice.He developed u-nique experiences in Bupleuri Radix combinations,emphasized the dose-effect relationship,clarified its contraindications,and adapted its use according to clinical conditions.Zhang also created numerous classic formulas and recorded numerous successful case studies of Bupleuri Radix integrating theoretical knowledge with clinical practice,providing valuable refer-ences and insights for future scholars.
