Medication Rules of Chinese Medicine Compounds in the Treatment of Diabetic Pe-ripheral Neuropathy Based on National Patents
Objective To analyze the Chinese medicine compound patents for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)in the National Patent Database using data mining techniques,and to explore the drug compatibility and formulation rules.Methods Chinese medicine compound patents related to the treatment of DPN were retrieved from Chi-na National Intellectual Property Administration from September 10,1985,to January 1,2024.The Ancient and Modern Medical Case Cloud Platform(V2.3.7)and SPSS Statistics 26.0 software were used to perform frequency statistics on the drugs,analyze their properties and meridian tropism,conduct association rule analysis,and perform systematic cluster anal-ysis.Results A total of 66 Chinese medicine compound patents for the treatment of DPN were included,involving 149 drugs.The most frequently used drugs were Astragali Radix,Chuanxiong Rhizoma,Angelicae Sinensis Radix,Salviae Milti-orrhizae Radix et Rhizoma,Cinnamomi Ramulus,and Spatholobi Caulis.In terms of properties,warm drugs were used most frequently,followed by neutral and slightly cold ones.In terms of flavor,sweet drugs were most common,followed by pun-gent and bitter ones.The drugs primarily acted on the liver,spleen,and heart meridians.The highest confidence level in the association rule analysis was for the"tonifying qi and invigorating blood"category,with the top three drug combinations being Chuanxiong Rhizoma-Astragali Radix,Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma-Astragali Radix,and Angelicae Sinensis Radix-Astragali Radix,with Astragali Radix as the core drug.The cluster analysis yielded combinations such as"Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma,Rehmanniae Radix,Paeoniae Radix Rubra,Corydalis Rhizoma,Achyranthis Bi-dentatae Radix,Carthami Flos,and Persicae Semen","Chuanxiong Rhizoma,Angelicae Sinensis Radix,Astragali Radix,Spatholobi Caulis,Cinnamomi Ramulus,and Pheretima",and"Scolopendra and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma".Conclu-sion Chinese medicine compounds for the treatment of DPN emphasize the simultaneous regulation of qi and blood,with tonifying qi and activating blood as the primary therapeutic approach.Depending on the condition,additional methods such as nourishing yin,warming yang,dredging channels,and relieving pain are applied.Commonly modified formulas include Buyang Huanwu Decoction,Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction,Danggui Sini Decoction,and Zhijing Powder.These findings may provide new ideas and references for clinical treatment and new drug development for DPN.
