Medication Rules of TCM Master CHAO Enxiang against Asthma and the Applica-tion of Wind-dispelling,Collateral-dredging,and Spasm-relieving Therapies
Objective To explore the prescription patterns of Professor Chao Enxiang,a traditional Chinese medi-cine(TCM)master,in treating bronchial asthma using network data mining and elucidate his prescription experience and the application of wind-dispelling,collateral-dredging,and spasm-relieving therapies,aiming to provide insights and guidance for the clinical treatment of bronchial asthma.Methods Relevant books detailing Professor Chao's clinical expe-rience and typical medical cases were collected to establish a prescription database.Statistical software,including the Ancient and Modern Medical Records Cloud Platform,SPSS Modeler 18.0,and Cytoscape 2.7.2,was used to perform fre-quency analysis,association analysis,and cluster analysis.Results A total of 295 prescriptions were collected.High-fre-quency herbs included Armeniacae Semen Amarum,Ephedrae Herba,and Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus.The meridian tropism analysis revealed that most drugs targeted the lung meridian,followed by the spleen,stomach,and heart meridians.In terms of flavor,pungency was most frequent,followed by sweet and bitter flavors.Regarding properties,warm drugs were predominant.Cluster analysis identified five drug groups,and association analysis showed the strongest correlation between Ephedrae Herba and Armeniacae Semen Amarum.Core drug analysis highlighted a group of key drugs,including Armenia-cae Semen Amarum,Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus,Ephedrae Herba,Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus,Perillae Fructus,and Pheretima.Conclusion Professor Chao Enxiang frequently used wind-dispelling drugs to regulate internal and external qi in the treatment of asthma.He skillfully combined Ephedrae Herba and Pheretima to dispel wind,relieve spasms,un-block orifices,and descend qi,addressing the root cause of the disease.This unique treatment approach,centered on the wind-dispelling,collateral-dredging,and spasm-relieving therapies,offers effective guidance for clinical medication.
