Objective:Based on the literature data of 30 years,the medication rules of external use of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of calcaneodynia were mined to provide theoretical guidance and reference for the treatment of calcaneodynia based on syndrome differentiation and prescriptions.Methods:China National Knowledge Infrastructure,China Science Periodical Data-base,Chinese Citation Database,and China Biology Medicine disc were used to search the Chinese literature on the external use of traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of calcaneodynia,and the external use of traditional Chinese medicine database was constructed.Data mining methods such as frequency statistics,correlation rule analysis,and hierarchical clustering analysis were used to summarize and analyze high-frequency traditional Chinese medicine,core drugs,and potential rules of prescription.Results:The top 20 Chinese herbs for treating calcaneodynia by external use are as follows:Herba Speranskiae Tuberculatae,Flos Carthami,Herba Lycopodii,Radix Clematidis,Achyranthes Bidentata,Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong,Radix Aconiti,Cinnamomum Cassia Presl,Olibanum,Angelica Sinensis,Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii,Myrrh,Radix Angelicae Pubescentis,Cortex Erythrinae,Lignum Sap-pan,Chaenomeles Speciosa,Sichuan Pepper,Acanthopanacis cortex,Radix Saposhnikoviae,and Mugwort Leaves.The warm medi-cine of the four qi is used the most frequently,followed by Chinese herbal medicines of a flat and hot nature.In the distribution of five flavors,the most used Chinese herbal medicines are pungent flavors,followed by bitter and sweet Chinese medicines.In the dis-tribution of meridians,the most used traditional Chinese medicines in the top three are the liver,spleen,and kidney meridians.Ac-cording to the support degree of ≥20％,the confidence level is set to ≥80％,and a total of 27 groups of related drugs with the matching rules such as"Paeonia lactiflora Pall-Angelica Sinensis"and"myrrh-Flos Carthami"are obtained.A total of 14 groups of core drug combinations are obtained through the cluster analysis of high-frequency traditional Chinese medicines.Conclusion:The main effects of the external use of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of calcaneodynia are nourishing the liver and kid-ney,expelling wind and dampness,promoting blood circulation,and removing blood stasis.The nature of medicines is mainly warm,flat,and hot,and the medicinal flavors are mainly pungent,bitter,and sweet.The main meridians are liver,spleen,and kidney.
