Professor ZHANG Zhiyuan,a master of Chinese medicine,has rich experience in the treatment of stroke and believes that the pathogenesis of stroke is due to internal injury,emotional injury,Qi deficiency,and evil,and the key lies in the blockage of Xuanfu and the obstruction of Qi and blood.Taking opening Xuanfu and unblocking Qi and blood as the treatment method,professor ZHANG Zhiyuan advocates the treatment by stages and syndrome types.For the acute and convalescent syndrome of phlegm,heat,and viscera excess,Sanhua Decoction was used,and the convalescent syndrome of Qi deficiency and blood stasis was treated with Jiuhuan Decoction.Professor ZHANG Zhiyuan created an empirical prescription Huangqi Yufeng Decoction to treat those with wind phlegm obstructing collaterals in the convalescent period and paid attention to the combination of wind medicine and insect medi-cine,as well as Astragalus membranaceus,Fructus Crataegi,Salvia miltiorrhiza,Cortex Moutan(Radicis),Rhizoma Pinelliae,and Citrus reticulata Blanco,which have achieved remarkable results.
