Clinical Effect of Tuina Combined with Celecoxib on Lumbar Disc Herniation
Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Tuina combined with celecoxib on lumbar disc herniation and provide relia-ble medical evidence for clinical application. Methods:Eighty patients with lumbar disc herniation treated in the Department of Tuina in the Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Affiliated to Shanghai University of Tradi-tional Chinese Medicine from March 2021 to January 2022 were randomized into an observation group(n=40)and a control group(n=40).The observation group was treated with Tuina combined with celecoxib, and the control group was treated with oral cele-coxib alone. The treatment in both groups lasted for 4 weeks.Outcome variables measured included the Visual Analog Scale(VAS)score, the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire(SF-MPQ)score,and the Oswestry Disability Index(ODI).Results:The response rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).Both the observation group and the control group showed decreased VAS and SF-MPQ scores after treatment(P<0.001),and the decreases were more significant in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.001).The ODI declined after treatment in both groups(P<0.01),especially in the obser-vation group(P<0.01).Conclusion:Tuina combined with celecoxib is superior to oral celecoxib alone in relieving lumbar pain and improving the lumbar function in the patients with lumbar disc herniation.
