Biological Effects of Moringa spp.Leaf on the Mice with Deficiency-heat and Deficiency-cold Syndromes
Objective:To investigate the biological expression characteristics of Moringa spp.leaves on mouse models of deficien-cy-heat syndrome and deficiency-cold syndrome. Methods:Kunming male mice were divided into blank group,deficiency-heat mod-el group,deficiency-heat group treated with Panax quinquefolius,deficiency-heat groups treated with Moringa spp.leaves(high,me-dium,low doses),deficiency-cold model group,deficiency-cold group treated with P.ginseng, and deficiency-cold groups treated with Moringa spp.leaves(high, medium, low doses).Thyroxine tablet solution and hydrocortisone solution were used to prepare the models of deficiency-heat and deficiency-cold syndromes,respectively.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was used to measure the serum levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cAMP),cyclic guanosine monophosphate(cGMP),cAMP/cGMP ra-tio,triiodothyronine(T3),thyroxine(T4),interleukin-6(IL-6),and interleukin-1 β(IL-1 β).Results:Compared with the deficiency-heat model group, the deficiency-heat groups treated with P.quinquefolius and Moringa spp.leaves showed significantly decreased levels of cAMP,cAMP/cGMP ratio,T3,T4,IL-6,and IL-1 β.Compared with the deficiency-cold model group, the deficiency-cold group treated with P.ginseng showed significantly increased levels of cAMP,cAMP/cGMP ratio,T3,T4,and decreased IL-6 and IL-1β.The deficiency-cold groups treated with Moringa spp.leaves showed no significant change in cAMP and cAMP/cGMP ratio, but significantly decreased levels of T3,T4,IL-6,and IL-1 β.Conclusion:The study found that Moringa spp.leaves had similar mecha-nisms of action to P.quinquefolius, exhibiting cold properties, contrary to the action of P.ginseng.At the level of immune factors,Moringa spp.leaves demonstrated bidirectional regulatory effects, possibly influenced by different chemical compositions, showing immune-modulating effects in deficiency-cold and deficiency-heat mouse models.Considering the levels of cyclic nucleotide metabo-lism and hormone levels,Moringa spp.leaves exhibited properties tending to cold or cool, consistent with the theoretical analysis of their medicinal properties.
