Objective:To systematically review ancient and modern literature on Danggui Shaoyao Powder(DSP)to understand its historical development and clinical application,providing a theoretical basis for its modern clinical use and research.Methods:The term"Danggui Shaoyao Powder"was used to search relevant entries and ancient texts in the Zhonghua Medical Canon database.Additionally,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)and PubMed databases were searched using"Danggui Shaoyao Pow-der"and"Danggui Shaoyao San"as keywords.Articles were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria,and the histori-cal evolution and clinical research on DSP were summarized.Results:A total of 111 entries from 50 medical texts were included from ancient literature.DSP was first recorded in the Synopsis of the Golden Chamber(Jin Gui Yao Lue),and its composition,origi-nal sources,dosage,and decoction methods largely followed the descriptions by ZHANG Ji.The original text did not record process-ing methods,adverse reactions,or contraindications for DSP.However,later physicians and scholars examined and discussed the in-dividual drugs in the formula.The composition ratio of the prescription was identified as 3∶16∶8∶4∶4∶8,using raw herbs,and it was primarily indicated for abdominal pain.In modern literature,38 studies were included,highlighting the analgesic,anti-inflammatory,hormone-regulating,lipid-lowering,blood circulation-improving,and immune-boosting effects.DSP has been mainly used to treat chronic pelvic inflammatory disease,dysmenorrhea,chloasma,diabetic nephropathy,and other conditions.Conclusion:The composi-tion,original sources,dosage,and methods of decoction and administration of DSP have remained largely consistent with those de-scribed in the Synopsis of the Golden Chamber.The formula is mainly applicable to five syndromes and over ten diseases.Clinical-ly,exploring its mechanisms of action has broadened the application range of DSS,providing a reference for the development and use of this classical prescription.
