Secret Records in a Stone Room(Shi Shi Mi Lu)is one of the representative works of physician CHEN Shiduo in the Qing Dynasty.In this book,he presents unique insights into the differentiation and treatment of chest impediment and heart pain.He boldly posited that the invasion of pathogens into the pericardium was a key pathological mechanism for chronic heart pain.In the clinical treatment of heart pain,he advocated for a straightforward approach,employing a differentiation based on cold and heat syn-dromes,and also mentioned a special treatment method for chest pain originating from the spleen and stomach.In terms of treatment principles,CHEN emphasized the simultaneous treatment of the heart and liver,skillfully using Gardeniae Fructus to clear the liver and drain fire.He advocated for prolonged and frequent use of Chinese herbal formulas in treatment.
