A contrastive study of the temporality of negation in English and Chinese
Given a context, both English and Chinese can express negative meanings in affirmative forms. From a point of view of pragmatic and cognitive linguistics, the process of realization remains the same irrespective of English or Chinese, except for differences in the representation, with English using the affirmative form of the past tense while Chinese using additional adverbs. This reflects the difference that English places more emphasis on temporality.
