Polyurethane is a polymer material with various product forms and excellent performance,which is suitable for applications in various industries.Due to the depletion of petroleum resources and related environmental problems,the use of renewable resources to synthesize polymers becomes a hot spot of concern.Lignin attracts widespread attention because of its renewable,biodegradable,high non-edible value,and strong functionality,and it is a source of hydroxyl to replace petroleum-based polyols to synthesize polyurethane.In recent years,lignin has been widely uesd in the field of polyurethane(foam,coatings,adhesives)as a substitute for polyols.Lignin or modified lignin proves to give polyurethane materials additional functions,such as improving the mechanical properties of materials,giving materials hydrophobicity,weather resistance and thermal stability,etc.By outlining the diversity of lignin structure,properties and the functional modification methods of lignin,dissing the potential ways of integrating lignin into polyurethane products,as well as the existing opportunities and challenges,and indicating the potential solutions for lignin in the field of polyurethane.Finally,illustratingthe great potential and performance-enhancing advantages of lignin incorporation into polyurethane products(polyurethane foams,coatings,adhesives).
