Polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)resin has excellent insulating properties, dielectric properties, chemical stability and anti-adhesive properties, and has been widely used in industrial production and daily life. However,PTFE resin has the defects of strong shrinkage characteristics and obvious creep characteristics, and sintering of PTFE products is usually required in the processing and molding process.Notably, the sintering process play a crucial role in the structure and properties of PTFE products. The overview review the physical changes of PTFE during the sintering process, summarize the research progress of the sintering mechanism, and sums up the demands of different molded products on the sintering conditions. It is showed that the current research focus of the sintering process has gradually changed from the traditional enhancement of product properties to the design and regulation of product structures. In addition, the functionalization and industrialization of new sintering methods for polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)is one of the important research directions in the future.
