Study on accurate evaluation of volatile organic compounds from poly-ethylene resin
This paper focused on evaluating the volatile organic compounds(VOCs)both qualitatively and quantitatively from poly-ethylene qualitatively with Headspace-Gas chromatography-Mass spectrum(HS-GC-MS).The type of column, balance time of HS,heating temperature and amount of sample is further studied and optimized for getting reliable data.It is found that heating 1 gram of poly-ethylene under 120℃for 60 minutes and further separating and analyzing using non-polar column could meet the requirement.Furthermore, the main components of VOCs from poly-ethylene are alkane with 8 to 14 carbon atoms, while minor alkene could still be found. The total amount of volatile organic compounds(TVOC)of sample studied in this paper varied between 1.55 to 12.55 g/g characterizing with standard working curve method.
