In recent years,with the continuous improvement of the flood and drought prevention and response system in the Yangtze River Basin and the enhancement of response capabilities,flood and drought disaster prevention has achieved sig-nificant comprehensive benefits in disaster prevention and reduction,providing water security assurance for the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.The paper deeply analyzes the profound significance of constructing a safe and tranquil Yangtze River,and summarizes the main measures and methods for flood and drought disaster prevention in the Yangtze River Basin,relevant experience and enlightenment,and the substantial achievements.It further scrutinizes the weaknesses and shortcomings of the Yangtze River Basin in areas such as the construction and utilization of detention and retention basin,defense against floods and mountain torrents in small and medium-sized rivers,and joint scheduling of wa-ter projects.The paper proposes strategic approaches and thinking to enhance the capabilities of flood and drought disaster prevention in the Yangtze River Basin.
