The South-to-North Water Diversion Project:a model of green ecological engineering
The South-to-North Water Diversion Project is related to the overall strategy,long-term development,and people's well-being.The specific practice of the 50-year planning and demonstration process,10-year construction period,and 10-year operation period of the project reflect the pure ecological values of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature in China,and are the concentrated embodiment of green development and Xi Jinping's ecological civilization ideas in the water conservancy sector.The project fully reflects the concept of ecological priority in the planning and demonstration stage,and puts forward the principle of"water conservation prior to water diversion,pollution control prior to water supply,environmental protection prior to water use.The project adheres to green and standardized construction methods throughout the construction phase,laying the foundation for the green ecology.It attaches great importance to institutional construction during the operation phase,carries out specialized legislation,continuously improves supporting systems,ensuring the or-derly scheduling of projects,sound water quality,and stable performance of benefits.The planning and demonstration con-cept,regulatory system construction,and benefit utilization practices of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project have become a template for subsequent cross basin water diversion projects and a model for green ecological engineering.
