Nitrogen Retranslocation from the First Four Order of Fine Root Branch of Fraxinus mandshurica
In this study, the nitrogen contents differences between live and dead roots were compared to study nitrogen retranslocation in the branch order fine roots of a Manchurian Ash (Fraxinus mandshurica) plantation located in the mountains of northeastern Heilongjiang Province. The results showed that:there was no nitrogen retranslocation from the first-order and the second-order roots, but there were nitrogen retranslocations from the third-order and the fourth-order roots, and nitrogen retranslocation efficiencys were 26.03% and 50.93%,respectively.These results illustrated that roots branch order may be an important indication of nitrogen retranslocation in dead fine roots.
