Properties of Surface Coating Modification and SO2 Absorption of Polypropylene Membranes
Vulcanized fluorosilicone rubber(SiF)was the hydrophobic modifier, and the SiF coating was constructed on the surfaces and pores of polypropylene(PP)hollow fiber membranes via the surface coating method to improve the hydrophobicity of the membranes. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)confirm that SiF is successfully adhered to the surfaces of PP hollow fiber membranes, forming hydrophobic PP hollow fiber membranes(PP-SiF).The coating of SiF do not affect the structures of PP hollow fiber membranes and can significantly enhance the hydrophobicity of PP-SiF hollow fiber membranes. When the mass fraction of SiF is8%,the water contact angle of PP-SiF-4 hollow fiber membrane is the highest(133.8°),which is 40.07%higher than that of pure PP hollow fiber membrane. Moreover, the single component composed of PP-SiF-4 hollow fiber membrane has a removal rate of 61.55%for sulfur dioxide(SO2).Thus,this study provides a new experimental idea and research basis for the applications of PP hollow fiber membranes in the field of SO2.
