Preparation of Chitosan-Polyacrylic Acid Magnetic Hydrogels and Adsorption of Cu2+
Heavy metal ion pollution in water is very harmful, and it is relatively difficult to control, which is a major problem in environmental protection today. In this study, the physical cross-linked magnetic hydrogels with multiple interpenetrating networks based on Co-Fe particle-chitosan-polyacrylate-chitin(CoFe2 O4-CS-PAA-CT)were prepared by a two-step method. The structures, thermal stability, magnetic property, adsorption property and regeneration of the hydrogels were studied. The results show that the CoFe2 O4-CS-PAA-CT hydrogel has good self-healing,regeneration and adsorption, and the saturation adsorption capacity for Cu2+is 247.22 mg/g.When CoFe2 O4-CS-PAA-CT hydrogel adsorbs heavy metal ions, the higher the concentration of heavy metal ions, the higher the adsorption capacity. When the pH value is no more than 5.0,the adsorption effect is the best. The adsorption capacity of hydrogel decreases with the increasing of interfering ion concentration. The multiple interpenetrating network hydrogels based on CoFe2 O4-CS-PAA-CT can be used as a new option to treat heavy metal wastewater in the future.
