Study on the 1910 nm Laser Transmission Welding Process for the Same Transparent Polystyrene
This study conducted the absorbent-free laser transmission welding experiments on the transparent polystyrene(PS)plastic sheets using a semiconductor laser with a wavelength of 1910 nm.The research investigated the influences of laser power, welding speed, and line energy on the welding effects of the specimens. The results show that the 1910 nm semiconductor laser could achieve the absorbent-free welding of the same polystyrene transparent plastics, and the welding results are excellent. With a line energy of 3 J/mm,the obtained welded specimen exhibits uniformly and regular welds, and its tensile strength reaches 707 N.It could meet the needs of food, medical and other plastic processing fields with higher health standards for plastic products. This research has broad application prospects and is significant for replacing traditional plastic welding methods(such as ultrasonic soldering and friction welding)and traditional laser plastic welding(absorbent-required).
