Differences in the Structures and Properties of Wide-Distribution Polyethylene Pipe Resins
The differences in the structures and properties of the wide-distribution polyethylene pipe resins(GC1 and GC2)produced by Hostalen(double-reactor tandem)and Hostalen ACP(three-reactor tandem)slurry polymerization process were investigated by high temperature gel permeation chromatograph(GPC),differential scanning calorimeter(DSC),universal tensile testing machine, impact testing machine, and dynamic mechanical analyzer(DMA).The results show that GC2 produced by the three-reactor tandem has a larger average molecular weight,a wider molecular weight distribution,a higher relative content in the high molecular weight fraction((M)w>106),and a higher comonomer content.Besides, the impact strength and tensile strength of GC2 are higher.GC2 has stronger creep resistance and better processing fluidity at the high shear rate.
