Influence of Hole Structures on Welding Line Quality Based on Moldflow and Case Analysis
To improve the overall sense of high quality and technology of automotive interiors, more electroplated parts have been developed and applied. Now,most of the two-color radium electroplating products in automotive interiors are made by the two-color injection moulding electroplating and then radium electroplating, which has some deficiencies in appearance, function and cost. Then two-color radium-free electroplating technology is introduced, and how to ensure the appearance quality of two-color radium-free electroplating parts has always been a common problem that manufacturers need to face and solve. In this paper, for the appearance of welding line defects,a series of simplified models were built based on Moldflow software, and the effects of different hole structures on the quality of welding lines were deeply studied. The results show that the V-shaped angles of the welding lines formed by the confluences of the plastic melt at the sharp structures are larger, the V-shaped notches are smaller, the lengths of the welding lines are shorter, and the quality of the moulding is better.Based on the conclusions of this study, this paper took the two-color radium-free electroplating P-key as the example, the wall thickness of the parts was optimized by adjusting the gate. The welding lines were optimized to the sharp structures of the P-key characters by increasing the diversion structures. The results show that the V-shaped confluence angle of the welding lines is increased to 125°,its V-shaped notch is obviously reduced, the appearance of the welding lines molding quality is better, and the plating quality meets the requirements. The successful improvement of this case and the expansion of the research results have practical guidance significances and reference values for solving the problem of defective welding lines of appearance parts.
