Simultaneous Determinations of Five Organophosphate Esters in Biodegradable Plastics Using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry
A fast method was established for the simultaneous determinations of five organophosphate esters in biodegradable plastics using the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The sample was dissolved in dichloromethane, precipitated with methanol, and determined by the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results show that the spike recovery rates of biodegradable lunch boxes and mulch films range from 98.0%to 119.8%with a relative standard deviation(RSD)of 0.61%-6.73%(n=6).The detection limit for the five organophosphate esters is 1.0 mg/kg,and the quantification limit is 2.5 mg/kg.The quality control samples of polylactic acid with five kinds of phosphate esters were tested. The results show that the recovery rates range from 73.1%to 89.9%,and RSD values are all less than 6.41%.Eleven biodegradable plastic products were tested using this method. The results show that five kinds of phosphate esters are not detected in the lunch boxes, the detection rate of triphenyl phosphate(TPP)is high in the plastic films and shopping bags, and the other compounds are not detected. This method is simple, fast, and highly sensitive, which could meet the detection requirements. This study provides references for biodegradable plastic product enterprises in production and processing, and provides technical supports for the industry supervision.
