Preparation and Properties of Polyolefin Elastomers Grafted with Norbornene Diacid Anhydride
Polyolefin elastomer(POE)modified by norbornene dihydride(NA)was prepared by the melt grafting. The effects of the amount of graft monomer, initiator, main screw speed and processing temperature on the grafting rate of the product were systematically studied. The structures of the product were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).The grafting rate of NA in grafted products was calculated by the acid-base titration. The thermal performances were studied by thermal analyzer(TG)and differential scanning calorimeter(DSC).The results show that the amount increments of graft monomer and initiator in the range of 0.4%-1.0%could improve the product grafting rate. The grafting rate of the product could also be improved by controlling the process parameters such as main screw speed and processing temperature in the appropriate range. The optimum process parameters were obtained with a5%-7%mass fraction graft monomer,a0.6%-0.8%mass fraction initiator,a screw speed of 250-300 r/min,and a processing temperature of 200-220℃.Under this condition, the grafting rate is 15%,the melt mass flow rate is 6-7 g/10 min(230℃,2.16 kg)and the thermal properity is better.
