Preparation and Performances of Talcum Powder Reinforced Polyurethane Films
Polyurethane(PU)films with excellent waterproof and breathable properties are extensively employed in outdoor leisure products. To further enhance their mechanical performances, modified polyurethane films filled with talcum powder(Talc)were prepared.Talc was pre-treated with a silane coupling agent(KH550)to improve its compatibility with PU.PU/Talc modified granules were obtained through melt blending and extrusion granulating, followed by the hollow blow molding to form films. The influences of modified Talc on the mechanical properties, rheological behaviors, and thermal properties of PU/Talc films were investigated. The results indicate that the modified Talc disperses uniformly in the polyurethane matrix. In comparison with pure PU films, the tensile strength of PU/Talc composite film with a4%mass fraction modified Talc is the highest, which is increased by36.7%.Moreover,the puncture strength of PU/Talc composite film with a 2%mass fraction modified Talc is the highest, which is increased by 40.5%.Additionally,the modified PU/Talc composite films retain favorable flow properties. These findings provide technical supports for the developments of high-strength outdoor leisure commodities.
