Study on the Thermo-Oxidative Aging Behaviors of Polypropylene Filled with the High-Content Talcum Powder
The introduction of talcum powder is one of the important methods to improve the modulus of polypropylene. The results show that the introduction of talcum powder has a significant effect on the thermo-oxidative aging life of polypropylene treated at 150℃.With the content of talcum powder increases, the thermal aging life of modified polypropylene decreases, thermal aging shows a little deterioration on tensile strength, while the impact strength increases at first and then decreases in the process of thermal aging.X-ray diffraction(XRD),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)and gel permeation chromatography(GPC)were used to investigate the changes of molecular weight, crystallinity and filler/resin interface structures in the process of thermo-oxidative aging. The results show that the impact strength and thermo-oxidative aging life are decreased by introducing talcum powder, which is due to the recrystallization and interfacial debonding of polypropylene.
