Synthesis and Properties of Bisphenol S-Type Heterocyclic Copolyether Sulfones Containing Pendant Phenyl Groups
To develop the polyarylethersulfone that is temperature resistant and soluble,easy to be functionally modified,a series of copolyether sulfones containing pendant phenyl groups(PPESS-Ps)were prepared via high-temperature solution polymerization.A series of heterocyclic copolyether sulfones(PPESS-Ps)with different monomer ratios were synthesized by the high-temperature solution polycondensation method.4-(3-phenyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-2,3-phthalazin-1-ketone,4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone,and 4,4′-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone were used as the monomers.The structures of PPESS-Ps were investigated via nuclear magnetic resonance hydrogen spectroscopy,infrared spectroscopy,and X-ray diffraction.Intrinsic viscosity,molecular weight,thermal properties,solubility,mechanical properties,and hydrophilicity of PPESS-Ps were characterized.The results indicate that the chemical structures of PPESS-Ps meet the expectations and the copolymerization compositions of PPESS-Ps are controllable.The intrinsic viscosity range of PPESS-Ps is0.79-0.92 dL/g,while the number-average molecular weight range is 2.75×104-4.65×104.For amorphous PPESS-Ps,the glass transition temperature is greater than 245℃,the 5%thermogravimetric temperature is higher than 511℃,and the residual carbon rate exceeds 40.6%at 800℃,demonstrating that the PPESS-Ps have excellent heat resistance and thermal stability.PPESS-Ps could dissolve well in N-methylpyrrolidone,N,N-dimethylacetamide and chloroform.Besides,PPESS-Ps exhibit excellent mechanical properties,the tensile modulus range is 1.61-1.92 GPa,and the tensile strength range is 55-81 MPa.
