Research Progress of Crystallization Behaviors of Poly(butylene 2,6-naphthalate)
Poly(butylene 2,6-naphthalate)(PBN)is a kind of aromatic polyester with excellent comprehensive properties and is expected to be widely used in aerospace, electronic and electrical engineering, special packaging and other fields with harsh conditions.Due to the polymorphism of PBN,the mechanical properties and barrier properties of PBN industrial products could be improved by tailoring the crystal forms and their morphologies formed during the melting process of PBN.For PBN,with the change of crystallization conditions,"one-stage route"or"two-stage route"may occur, resulting to form different crystal forms and crystal morphologies such as β′-crystal,α-crystal,liquid crystalline mesophase, the α-crystal transformed from liquid crystalline mesophase,or polycrystalline coexistence. In this paper, the crystallization behaviors, crystal forms, crystal morphologies and transformation mechanisms of PBN in different melt crystallization processes were reviewed, which not only provided a theoretical basis for the precise control of PBN crystal morphologies, but also provided an effective and feasible way for the high performances of PBN.
