Research Progress of the Synergistic Pyrolysis of Biomass and Waste Plastics Catalyzed by HZSM-5 to Produce Benzene Series
Benzene series(BTEXs)mainly derived from fossil fuels is an important class of chemical raw materials and fuel additives with wide industrial applications and economic values.Synergistic pyrolysis of biomass and waste plastics could effectively produce BTEXs and has the advantages of waste utilization and environmental protection. This paper reviewed the research progresses of BTEXs produced by the synergistic pyrolysis of biomass and waste plastics catalyzed by the hydrogen exchanged zeolite socony mobil-5(HZSM-5).Firstly,the characteristics of directly-produced BTEXs from biomass and waste plastics without the catalyst were discussed. Then, the methods for producing BTEXs based on the HZSM-5 catalyst,metal-modified HZSM-5,alkali/alkaline earth metal coupled HZSM-5,and different catalytic methods were discussed. The selectivity and yield of BTEXs could be improved by metal modification,alkali/alkaline earth metal coupling, and catalytic methods. This paper provided some references for the efficient catalytic conversions of biomass and waste plastics.
