The Songhua River is one of the seven major rivers in China,but there is no consensus on its headwater in the academic circles.This paper sorts out the relevant literature about the Songhua River headwater determination,separately reviews and puts forward relevant thoughts,so as to provide relevant reference for solving this problem.The viewpoints about the Songhua River headwater determination can be sorted as three types,namely the"Northern Headwater Theory",the"Southern Headwater Theory"and the"Two Headwaters Theory",from the perspective of hydrogeography,the"Northern Headwater Theory"accords with scientific facts,while the"Southern Headwater Theory"blurs the relationship between main stream and tributary,and the"Two Headwaters Theory"is difficult to determine the correct Songhua River headwater from the river length.The Nen River,as the Northern Headwater of the Songhua River,is also the"Hydrogeography Headwater",and the only length of the Songhua River is 2 309km.The Second Songhua River,as the Southern Headwater of the Songhua River,can be regarded as the"Historical and Cultural Headwater",and it is suggested that the Second Songhua River be renamed"the South Branch Songhua River".
