Research on Design of the Ultra-High Aqueduct Piers for the Tingzikou Irrigation Area Project(Phase 1)
The Tangjiagou aqueduct of the Tingzikou Irrigation Area Project(Phase 1)is 700m long, spanning three valleys of Tangjiagou,Liujiagou, and Shengou. The highest pier of the aqueduct reaches up to 50 m,posing significant design and construction challenges. The aqueduct was modeled and calculated using the Bridge Doctor V4.4 software, and a summary of the construction process was also made. The calculation results show that the pier strength, reinforcement stress, overall bearing capacity, top displacement, base stress, eccentricity, foundation's resistance to overturning and sliding,as well as foundation settlement meet the requirements. The research indicates that the hollow pier with an enlarged base structure is adequate as the support for the ultra-high aqueduct pier.During the construction of the ultra-high pier,it is crucial to closely monitor the safety to prevent significant accidents. The study on design of the Tangjiagou aqueduct concludes with experience that can be referenced for similar projects.
