Analysis on stratified distribution characteristics and micro mechanism of expansive soil for construction of Project of Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Hanjiang River
The expansive soil in the slope of the channel for the Project of Water Diversion from Yangtze River to Hanjiang River for the Mid-Route of South-to-North Water Transfer Project spatially shows the characteristics of stratification and zonation, furthermore, siginificant differences are there among the expansive potentials in the soil masses at different layers, thus so many uncertainties are there for the classified judgment of the swelling potentials of the corss-sections of the channel After the excavation of the channel, the swelling classes of soil masses at different layers are judged with comprehensive classification through a large amount of indoor testings and statistical analyses made on the classification indexes of the expansive soil in accordance with different vertical macro geological characteristics of the expansive soils of the excavated cross-sections of the channel On the basis of this,a series of micro physical and chemical nature studies are carried out,so as to reveal the inherent mechanisms of the swelling potential differences of the expansive soils at different layers, and then provide a scientific basis and theoretical guidance for the comprehensive classification of the soil for this project.
