Progress in the application of the water footprint to the water-energy-food-economy nexus
[Objective]To promote the sustainable development of water, energy, food and economy, and to meet the steady pro-gress of society, the progress of research on the interrelationships among water, energy, food, and economy from the perspective of water footprint are summarized and reviewed.[Methods]The Web of Science Core Collection database was selected for the study of the interrelationships between"water-energy""water-food""water-economy"and"water-energy-food""water-energy-food-economy"as the keywords, and then use CiteSpace to visualize the result of the database search for literature analysis.[Results]According to the result of the four searches and the running result of CiteSpace, the keyword co-occurrence network mapping, the emergence detection table, and the keyword clustering map were obtained respectively, and the specific analyses were carried out in turn.[Conclusion](1)Most of the studies on the water-energy nexus used method such as life cycle assess-ment,data envelopment analysis, and input-output analysis.(2)The GEPIC model, the CROPWAT model and the AquaCrop model were the main models for studying the water-food nexus.(3)The Tapio decoupling model was the main model for the study of water-economy relationship.(4)In terms of the water-energy-food-economy most of the studies mainly focused on the water-energy-food nexus, and have not yet constructed a complete theoretical framework, future studies should conduct comprehensive multi-angle analyses, with a view to providing a favourable basis for the study of water-energy-food-economy interrelationships.
