Present situation and future of hydrology
The complexity of hydrological phenomenon and the defects of the reductionism were analyzed. The driving force for the development of hydrology was discussed. The theoretical basis and limitations of the existing hydrology were summarized. The existing misunderstandings in the development of hydrological models for watersheds were put forward. Finally, the necessity of the expansion of hydrology from "linearity" to "nonlinearity" was discussed.
