Research on postbiotics as substitutes of antibiotics in animal production
In animal production,the development and rational utilization of safe,natural,and cost-effective alternatives to antibiotics in animal production are important research topics.Postbiotics refer to non-living,biologically active microorganisms or metabolites that have beneficial effects on the host health.Compared to probiotics,postbiotics exhibit better stability and safety.Postbiotics play a significant role in regulating the gut microbiota,modulating the immune system,and inhibiting pathogens.This is advantageous for the safe and environmentally friendly production of livestock products such as meat and eggs,reducing economic losses caused by diseases,and promoting the sustainable development of animal husbandry.The article reviews the characteristics,classification,composition,biological functions,and potential mechanisms of postbiotics,providing a reference for their application in animal production.
