Effects of dietary crude protein levels on body weight and body size traits of Yanjin silkies aged 1~6 weeks
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effect of dietary crude protein level on the body weight and body size traits of Yanjin silkies aged 1~6 weeks.One hundred and twenty 1-day-old healthy black-bone chickens with similar body weight were randomly divided into three groups with five replicates in each group and eight chickens in each replicate,and fed with experimental diets with crude protein levels of 18.59%,20.09%,and 21.37%,respectively.The trial period was six weeks.The results showed that at the age of one week,the body weight of 21.37%group was extremely higher than that of the 18.59%group and 20.09%group(P<0.01).At the age of three weeks,the body weight of the 20.09%group and 21.37%group was significantly higher than that of the 18.59%group(P<0.05).Dietary crude protein level had extreme effect on average daily gain and feed to weight ratio of one-week-old Yanjin silkies(P<0.01),and the significant effect on average daily gain of three-week-old Yanjin silkies(P<0.05).The oblique length,keel length,tibia length,and body height of the 21.37%group at one week were significantly or extremely lower than those of 18.59%group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).The chest width of the 20.09%group at two weeks was significantly higher than that of the 18.59%group(P<0.05).The oblique length and chest depth of the 21.37%group at three weeks were significantly or extremely higher than those of the 18.59%group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).The chest width of the 21.37%group at four weeks was significantly higher than that of the 18.59%group(P<0.05).The oblique length,keel length,and aileron feather length of the 21.37%group at five weeks were significantly higher than those of the 18.59%group(P<0.05).At the age of six weeks,in the 18.59%group,the correlations between body weight,body size and feather traits were as follows:Tibia length>body oblique length>keel length>pelvis width>main wing feather number>chest depth>aileron feather length>body height>main wing feather length>tibia circumference>chest width(R=-0.004~0.885).In the 20.09%group,the correlations among body weight,body size and feather traits were as follows:Body height>chest depth>aileron feather length>keel length>main wing feather number>chest width>body oblique length>tibia circumference>tibia length>pelvis width>main wing feather length(R=0.326~0.805).In the 21.37%group,the correlations between body weight,body size and feather traits were as follows:Body oblique length>chest depth>tibia circumference>chest width>keel length>pelvis width>body height>aileron feather length>main wing feather length>tibia length>main wing feather number(R=-0.051~0.873).The results showed that the growth and development performance of Yanjin silkies aged 1~6 weeks was better when the dietary crude protein level was 21.37%.When the dietary crude protein level was 20.09%,the body weight at six weeks old had a good correlation with body size and feather traits.
