Effects of plant essential oil on production performance, immune function and intestinal flora of laying hens
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of plant essential oils on the production performance, serum biochemical indexes, immune indexes, intestinal development, and intestinal flora of laying hens.A total of 160 thousand 430-day-old JF-1 laying hens were randomly divided into two groups, with five replicates in each group and 16 000 hens in each replicate. The CO group was fed with basal diet, while the EO group was fed with 200 g/t plant essential oil.The trial period was 40 days. The results showed that the qualified egg rate of laying hens was increased, the feed-to-egg ratio was decreased, and the serum IgG and IgA concentrations of laying hens were significantly increased(P<0.05).Plant essential oil decreased the ratio of intestinal chorionic gland, increased the number of Lactobacillus in intestinal tract, and significantly decreased the number of Clostridium perfringens in intestinal tract(P<0.05).The result shows that adding plant essential oil to the diet can improve the performance and immunity of laying hens, promote the development of intestinal morphology, and reduce the number of harmful bacteria.
