Preparation,physiological function and application in animal production of xylo-oligosaccharides
Xylo-oligosaccharide(XOS),also known as xylo-oligosaccharides or oligosaccharides,is a class of short chain polymers with prebiotic activity,consisting of 2～7 xyloses connected by β-1,4 glucoside bonds.XOS has the characteristics of low calorific value and strong stability,which makes XOS difficult to be recognized and decomposed by digestive enzymes in the animal intestine,but it can be decomposed and utilized by beneficial bacteria in the intestine.XOS comes from a wide range of sources,has no toxic side effects,and can improve the activity of Bifidobacterium in the intestine.As a green functional oligosaccharide,XOS is widely used in medicine,agriculture,feed,food,and so on.XOS has the physiological functions of antibacterial,anti-inflammatory,regulating blood sugar,antioxidant,and so on,which has great application potential in animal production.Based on the research progress of XOS at home and abroad,the preparation methods of XOS were summarized,and the practical application of XOS in animal production was reviewed in combination with its physiological functions,so as to provide a reference for the rational utilization of XOS in animal production.
