Multiple regression analysis of body weight and body size of Pishan red sheep at different stages
The research aims to analyze the correlation between body weight and body size indicators of Pishan Red sheep at different ages, and establish the optimal regression model for weight and body size. The study measured phenotypic data of 238 Pishan Red sheep(113 males and 125 females)at birth, two months, and six months. The measured indicators included body weight(Y),body height(X1),body length(X2),chest circumference(X3),girth(X4),tail length(X5),tail width(X6),and tail thickness(X7).SPSS 26.0 software was used to conduct correlation, path analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis on the three stages of Pishan Red sheep, and to establish the optimal regression model for weight and body size in the early stages. The results showed that body height, body size, chest circumference, girth, tail width, and tail thickness of Pishan Red sheep were significantly positively correlated with the weight of both males and females(at birth, two months, and six months)(P<0.01),and the tail length of newborn males was significantly positively correlated with weight(P<0.05).The most significant direct factor affecting weight at different stages was chest circumference, followed by body size and body height. The optimal regression equations for weight and body size of Pishan Red sheep are as follows. For newborn males,Y=-5.952+0.083X1+0.037X2+0.115X3+0.080X4-0.053X5+0.047X6+0.111X7,R2=0.853.For newborn females,Y=-6.643+0.061 X1+0.086X2+0.107X3+0.117X4-0.068X5+0.049X6+0.100X7,R2=0.824.For two-month-old males:Y=-24.980+0.145X1+0.170X2+0.173X3+1.781X4+0.023X5+0.131X6-0.015X7,R2=0.800.For two-month-old females:Y=-25.785+0.255X1+0.192X2+0.146X33+0.646X4+0.293X5+0.135X6-0.140X7,R2=0.801.For six-month-old males,Y=-40.321+0.267X1+0.231X2+0.278X3+1.682X4+0.003X5-0.049X6+0.585X7 R2=0.812.For six-month-old females,Y=-37.830+0.297X1+0.374X2+0.229X3+0.773X4+0.154X5+0.089X6+0.254X7,R2=0.662.The study indicates that in the process of pig red sheep selection and fat lamb production,it is necessary to strengthen the selection of body size indicators while paying attention to weight selection.
