Research progress on application of Artemisia annua L.and its extracts in ruminant production
Artemisia annua L.belongs to the Asteraceae family and is an annual herbaceous plant.It contains bioactive compounds such as terpenoids,flavonoids,polysaccharides,and volatile oils.Artemisia annua L.exhibits dual functions in nutrition and medicine,with various biological activity including antibacterial,anticancer,anti-inflammatory,immunomodulatory,antioxidant properties,and the ability to enhance productivity.In recent years,with the development of modern intensive animal husbandry,research on plant-based feed additives affecting animal health has gained widespread attention.Artemisia annua L.and its extracts,as a kind of medicinal plant rich in terpenoids and flavonoids,can enhance the immunity and antioxidant capacity of animals,and have high application research value.The article reviews the research progress on the application of Artemisia annua L.and its extracts in ruminant animal production,aiming to provide references for the further utilization of Artemisia annua L.in ruminant animal farming.
