Effects of fermented Chinese medicine on production performance, serum biochemical indexes and nutrient apparent digestibility of dairy cows
The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of fermented Chinese medicine on the production performance, serum biochemical indexes, and nutrient apparent digestibility of dairy cowss.Fifty-six cows with similar body condition and parity were randomly divided into two groups with four replicates in each group and seven cows in each replicate. The control group was fed with a basal diet, while the experimental group was fed with 200 g/d fermented Chinese medicine. The pre-test period was one week, and the formal test period was eight weeks. The results showed that compared with the control group,on the 56th day,the milk yield, milk fat rate, milk protein rate, and lactose rate in the experimental group increased significantly(P<0.05),while the number of somatic cells in milk decreased significantly(P<0.05).The activity of aspartate aminotransferase(AST)and the contentrations of urea nitrogen(BUN)and non-esterified fatty acid(NEFA)in serum of dairy cows decreased significantly(P<0.05).The apparent digestibility of dry matter(DM),crude protein(CP),neutral detergent fiber(NDF),and acid detergent fiber(ADF)increased significantly(P<0.05).The results showed that adding fermented Chinese medicine to dairy cows'diet can improve production performance and nutrient apparent digestibility of dairy cows, and improve dairy quality.
