Biological functions of tea polyphenols and their application in animal production
Tea polyphenols are the main components in tea.Tea polyphenols are the general name of a kind of polyphenolic mixture with a phenolic hydroxyl structure, which is mainly composed of flavonoids, anthocyanins, phenolic acids and catechins, and has biological functions such as antioxidation, antiviral, antibacterial and bacteriostatic, and regulating glucose and lipid metabolism. As a feed additive, the tea polyphenols can improve the immunity and antioxidant function of animal body, improve the disease resistance of the body, regulate various physiological metabolic functions in the body, and then improve the production performance of animals and increase the profit of breeding. In this paper, the physicochemical properties, main components, biological functions of tea polyphenols and their application in animal production were reviewed, which provided some reference for efficient utilization of tea polyphenols in animal production.
