Analysis of agronomic traits, nutritional components, and relative feeding value of four feed sweet sorghum varieties in Karst areas of Guangxi
The study was to screen out feed sweet sorghum varieties suitable for planting in Karst areas of Guangxi. The experiment focuses on four varieties of sweet sorghum for feed, analyzing the agronomic traits, biological yield, nutritional value, and relative feeding value of sweet sorghum. The results showed that the plant height and tillering number of sweet sorghum 601 were significantly higher than those of sweet sorghum 326,901,and Hercules(P<0.05),while Hercules had a significantly higher stem diameter and number of stem nodes than sweet sorghum 326,601,and 901(P<0.05).In terms of stem to leaf ratio,Hercules and sweet sorghum 901 were significantly higher than sweet sorghum 326,601(P<0.05).The fresh grass yield and dry grass yield of sweet sorghum 326 and 601 were significantly higher than those of sweet sorghum 901 and Hercules(P<0.05).In terms of dry to fresh ratio, the content of sweet sorghum 601 was 31.34%,which was the highest among all varieties. The crude protein content of Hercules was higher than that of sweet sorghum 326,601,and 901.The crude fiber and acid detergent fiber content of sweet sorghum 901 were significantly higher than those of Hercules and sweet sorghum 326 and 601(P<0.05).The neutral detergent fiber content of sweet sorghum 601 was 60.82%,which was significantly higher than that of Hercules, sweet sorghum 326,and 901(P<0.05).In terms of crude fat and dry matter content, the content of sweet sorghum 601 was 23.78 g/kg and 31.17%,which were significantly higher than that of sweet sorghum 326,901,and Hercules(P<0.05).The crude ash content of sweet sorghum 326 was 9.59%,which was the highest among all varieties. The dry matter intake, digestible dry matter, relative feed value, and digestible nutrients of sweet sorghum 326 were the highest among all varieties. The study indicates that sweet sorghum 326 and 601 are more suitable for planting in Karst areas of Guangxi.
