Research progress on nutritional properties of Sophora alopecuroide and its application in ruminant breeding
Sophora alopecuroides is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Sophoraceae family and the Sophora genus.It is rich in crude protein,unsaturated fatty acids,calcium,phosphorus and other nutrients.Sophora alopecuroides extract has good biological functions such as anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,antibacterial,and immune regulation.However,its stems and leaves contain a certain amount of alkaloids,and excessive consumption by livestock can cause poisoning.Adding appropriate doses of Sophora alopecuroides or its residue to diet has no adverse reaction to ruminants,and can improve their growth performance and antioxidant performance.Therefore,Sophora alopecuroides can be used as a low toxicity and efficient feed resource for ruminants.The article reviews the nutritional characteristics and active ingredient composition of Sophora alopecuroides,its biological functions and toxic effects,and its effects on the growth performance,rumen fermentation,and antioxidant performance of ruminants.The aim is to provide a reference for improving the development and application of Sophora alopecuroides in ruminant breeding.
